Woven Textiles

Bio

Alice Hume is a textile artist who studied Fashion & Textile Design at Winchester School of Art where she specialized in Woven Textiles. In her second year she had the opportunity to study at the Swedish School of Textiles in Boras, Sweden for five months. This enabled her to learn and create fabrics on carpet, terry towel, jacquard and Swedish looms. For her final collection “Native Beards”, she created hand woven bags and neck pieces that were inspired by the culture of the Native Americans. These have been exhibited in Edinburgh and Islington as well as being featured in ebook “Textiles Reimagined” with textileartist.org. Alice now runs frame loom weave workshops around Portsmouth called “Hume Looms” which are all handmade from recycled wood.
