Kim Edith is a textile artist specialising in fabric collage. She studied Illustration before becoming a textiles teacher and combines the two disciplines to create retro inspired fabric artworks and playful images of pop culture.
Whilst studying illustration she specialised in creating whimsical collages from sketches and paper ephemera and she brings the same techniques to textiles, layering fabrics, stitch and embellishments to create mixed-media portraits, art quilts and fabric books. Fascinated by the possibilities of fabric transfer paper, she uses it to merge paper and fabric, adding hand drawn details, found images and photographs of original works.
She has developed this into a new craft called Stitchbooking, which combines fabric photographs with a range of textiles techniques to create personalised fabric memory books.
