BookFest Workshop 1: Make a Fabric Sketchbook
March 7 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm£35
To celebrate Portsmouth BookFest 2019 Kim Edith will be putting on several workshops to teach the art of making fabric sketchbooks following her talk in the Round Tower, Into the Woods: From Stitch to Print.
These are a great way to get started with Stitchbooking or making fabric art, with a simple construction and flexible design.
Come and create a ring-bound fabric sketchbook ready for experimentation in this 3 hour workshop. Chose your background, page colours, learn how to construct the pages and bind them together, as well as how to add your artwork into this book. By the end of the workshop your sketchbook should be ready to fill- and the unique design means you can sew onto the pages without the underside of your work being seen.
2 sizes to chose from (landscape or portrait) and sketchbook will be 6-10 pages depending on time.
Thursday 7th March, 10.00- 13.00
Want to learn how to create textile artwork for your sketchbook? Come to the second workshop in this series to explore the techniques needed to add images and artwork to your pages
No experience necessary—Beginners are welcome. We will be using simple sewing machine techniques, so I am happy to talk you through the basics as we go along if needed. Please bring your own sewing machine if you have one, although I have some you can use if not.
All materials and equipment will be provided.
This is a small workshop with 1-4 participants per session.
Workshop will take place at Kim’s studio – Number 6, Hotwalls. (Broad Street, Old Portsmouth, PO1 2FS). Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the morning.
There is limited on-road metered parking available opposite the studios and the nearest train station is Portsmouth Harbour which is a 15-20 minute walk.
If you have any questions about the workshop, have trouble choosing the correct date or would rather pay via invoice, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
