Recycled Weaving with Alice Hume
June 23 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Alice Hume will be bringing another of her large scale weaves to the Hotwalls Parade Ground in celebration Portsmouth Festivities this June. This time focusing on the plastics in our environment and alternative uses to throwing them in landfill.
Alice is a Textile Artist who studied Fashion and Textile Design at Winchester School of Art where she specialised in Woven Textiles. After Graduating Alice and her father collaborated to make handmade frame looms called Hume Looms from recycled wood which she uses to teach weave workshops. Alice now creates contemporary woven wall hangings and interior pieces at her studio at Hotwalls using unusual materials of copper, raffia, recycled denim and driftwood.
Alice will be outside from 11:00am-4:00pm with a variety of un-natural materials that need to be added to this creation. It’s your turn to make the art at Hotwalls Studios this month!
All studios will be opened collectively from 11:00am-4:00pm allowing you to speak to all of our artists, browse and buy their work and even commission your own pieces. As always there will be delicious food served from our onsite eatery The Canteen.
