This is the introduction to handbuilding six week course – a crash course in working with clay and glazing! The course consists of six 2 hour sessions running weekly over of six weeks.
Week one 20/03/24
Learn the ancient technique of pinching to create a set of small pinch pots. You will have time to make around four pots and add learn a range of techniques to add texture or decoration.
Week two 27/03/24
Use hump moulds to create dinner set . You will make a set including a plate and a bowl and decorate them using the sgraffito technique.
Week three 03/04/24
You will learn to coil clay to create a vase or vessel of your choosing.
Week four 10/04/24
Build using slabs to create a pair of mugs.
Week five 17/04/24
You will learn to decorate some of the pots you have made so far using underglazes and underglaze pencils.
Week six 24/04/24
This week you will have access to various glazes to decorate the rest of your work!
The workshops are run by Hollie from Nice Pear Ceramics in her Portsmouth studio and are small, casual and cosy.
All materials and use of tools are included and your work will be fired and glazed ready for you to collect or be posted to you for a small fee in around 4 weeks.

£250 per person (this includes all material and firing costs)

The workshops are held in a working studio with potential hazards such as the use of sharp tools. By booking onto a workshop you are agreeing to take full responsibility of your own health and safety, and in the event of an accident or injury assume all risks.
