Sadie Tierney

Painter & Printmaker

Artist Sadie Tierney studied MA Printmaking at the Royal College of Art where tutors included Terry Frost, Albert Irvin and Eileen Cooper. Working in a tradition of English landscape painter/ printmakers, she explores objects and places where form is linked to emotion and metaphor. The artist uses sketches made in situ as source material, often drawing from the Hotwalls beach, or at the local funfair. Sadie Tierney’s expressive prints and paintings are marked by a celebratory use of colour and line.

Recently represented at Art Basel Miami and London Art Fair, she also exhibits locally with a solo show recently at Play Dead Gallery in Southsea, and at Aspex Gallery. Previous selected solo exhibitions include Flowers East Gallery, Rabley Contemporary, Angela Flowers Ireland, and Eton College. Her latest solo exhibition “Of Night and Light and the Half Light” at Rabley Contemporary included 25 new woodcut prints made at her Hotwalls Studio, and printed on large presses at Omega Printmakers in Portsmouth and Rabley.

Public Collections include The National Museum, Gdańsk, The Bronx Museum of the Arts, New York, Eton College, The Royal College of Art, The Royal Navy, Baker & MacKenzie, The Otter Collection and Clifford Chance.
