We are recruiting for an Events & Operations Officer.
Role: Events and Operations Officer
Location: Portsmouth
Job Type: Part Time (4 days per week), Permanent
Salary: £20,512-£22,223 pro rata
Closing date: Wednesday 17 August 2022, midnight
Hotwalls Studios provides quality, affordable workspace for Portsmouth’s creative community. Opened by Portsmouth City Council in 2016, the development transformed part of the city’s historic coastal defences into 13 studios with an open layout that allows visitors to see the artists and makers at work. Visitors can meet the creatives, take part in workshops and purchase or commission work. This is complemented by a year-round programme of markets, exhibitions and other events.
Hotwalls Studios is managed by the Culture, Leisure and Regulatory Services Directorate. Working alongside the Hotwalls Studios Manager you will develop a wide and varied cultural events programme for Hotwalls Studios to gain local, regional and national recognition as a creative visitor destination.
The role requires working with the artists and creative businesses, the local residents, the on-site eatery, other studios and galleries across the region as well as the elected members to deliver a high quality cultural addition to the city. You will provide a great welcome for visitors and have sufficient knowledge of Portsmouth’s cultural offer to successfully engage with the public and stakeholders. The marketing and promotion of the events programme and studios through our website and social media platforms will be an important part of your role.
A key part of this role is working at events and functions at Hotwalls Studios, the Round Tower and occasionally off site, this will include physical elements of events management and outdoor work. We will require you to undertake weekend and evening working as part of delivering the events programme. There will be flexible arrangements when this happens for time off in lieu during the following 2 weeks.
You will also be assisting the Hotwalls Studios Manager in the practical day to day running of the studios. You will be based at the Hotwalls Studios site, with some working from the Civic Offices, Portsmouth Museum & Art Gallery and remotely.
