Star Girl Sweet Willow x Portsmouth Museums Collab

Hotwalls Studio 12’s very own Star Girl Sweet Willow has been cooking up a special new commission for Portsmouth Museums 🌟

Charlotte Kennedy Scott, the ceramicist and fibre artist behind ‘Star Girl Sweet Willow’, has created 150 handmade hanging ornaments for the museum’s gift shop. A new collection of ceramic ornaments are now available to buy at Portsmouth Museum and Art Gallery and at Southsea Castle.

The collection features 50 ceramic shield ornaments, each handmade and hand painted to depict a seagull alongside the historic Portsmouth crest, as well as 100 ceramic lighthouse ornaments inspired by the distinctive design of the Southsea Castle lighthouse. For Charlotte, the project represented an opportunity to celebrate the heritage of the city she works in while bringing handcrafted ceramics into a public space that welcomes both residents and visitors.

Charlotte said, “I am thrilled that I was chosen and trusted to complete this project. My creative process is deeply personal, and I am proud that Portsmouth Museum chooses to champion local human artistry.”

Ellen, Retail Officer at Portsmouth Museum and Art Gallery, said, “It’s really lovely to have collaborated with a local artist at Hotwalls Studios and be able to sell something that is handmade so close by.”

Charlotte’s artistic practice spans both ceramics and fibre art, often exploring themes of nature. Her experience of chronic pain strongly influences her creative voice. Visitors interested in discovering more about her work can find Star Girl Sweet Willow at Hotwalls Studio 12.
